EERE offers webinars to the public on a range of subjects, from adopting the latest energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, to training for the clean energy workforce. The Energy Department will cosponsor a live webinar titled "Call to Action! Hire Skilled Veterans Today!"  on Wednesday, March 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.  This webinar will discuss the federal government's efforts to promote the hiring of U.S. vets in the solar workforce. In addition, participants will learn about vets entering private practice, best practices in company recruiting and retention of vets, how the post-9/11 GI Bill can aid in the hiring process, and other available federal resources.

March 18: Live Webinar on Buildings of the Future

The Energy Department and our Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will present a live webinar titled "Buildings of the Future: The Role of Nature in our Built Environment" on Wednesday, March 18, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The webinar will feature the Energy Department's Pat Phelan and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Nora Wang. Guest speakers include Mary Ann Lazarus and Thomas Knittel of HOK and Chris Garvin of Terrapin Bright Green to discuss how natural systems and place-based building design can create sustainable and resilient buildings across the United States and globally. The panelists will discuss how these strategies can inform the future of buildings and cities and share their perspectives on how an ecosystem approach can be integrated into the urban environment.

March 18:  Live Webinar on Building America Research Tools

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Building America Research Tools: Field Test Best Practices, National Residential Efficiency Measures Database, and BEopt" on Wednesday, March 18, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) staff will provide an overview of Field Test Best Practices, a Web-based tool for field experiments and long-term monitoring of residential building systems. This overview will include content structure, demonstrate key features, and introduce a new discussion forum. NREL staff will also present the National Residential Efficiency Measures Database, a centralized resource of residential building retrofit measures and costs for the U.S. building industry.  Additionally, the BEopt (Building Energy Optimization) tool will also be discussed, including opportunities for builders to improve their home designs by finding the best efficiency measures for their climate and budget.

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Tribal Energy Development Operation and Management Best Practices" on Wednesday, March 25, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.  This webinar is a continuation of the Tribal Renewable Energy Webinar series, and attendees will learn the challenges and benefits of developing a tribal strategic energy plan, proven methods for fostering and growing management capabilities, and ways to ensure tribal staff and council members have access to key information in order to serve as resources for tribal leaders. In addition, best practices in strategic energy planning, tips for overcoming challenges, and ideas for using public participation techniques to support plan development and implementation will be presented.
