As wireless technology continues to evolve, telecommunications providers in North America are making significant changes to their legacy communications infrastructures and network capabilities. As part of this process, these third-party providers have elected to discontinue the provision of 3G wireless services. This means that devices and services that are designed to operate on 3G wireless networks, including hardware installed inside your Idle Mitigation System, will no longer function.
Telecommunications providers have already discontinued 3G services in favor of newer and more advanced LTE networks. Although these circumstances were created by factors beyond our control, we sincerely regret any inconvenience this may have caused. ZeroRPM has responded to this discontinuation of 3G coverage by developing a 4G Intellimetrics solution and is offering a 3G to 4G transition program.
While the discontinuation of 3G service by cellular service providers interrupts the Intellimetrics service of the ZeroRPM Idle Mitigation System, it is important to note that the ZeroRPM Idle Mitigation System will continue to function as designed, reducing or eliminating the need to idle your vehicle’s engine to provide accessory power including air conditioning and heating if these options are part of your installation.
This program pricing will be in effect through December 31, 2022.
Users who are interested in upgrading their ZeroRPM Idle Mitigation System to 4G service can purchase a 4G upgrade kit and a new 4G service plan. The 4G upgrade kit includes a new 4G CAN remote, cables and mounting hardware and a software upgrade that allows the ZeroRPM IMS to operate on the 4G network. Users can also purchase a 4G data plan through ZeroRPM in one-year increments. The 4G upgrade installation can be completed by authorized ZeroRPM service providers.

Users of ZeroRPM systems that are within the ZeroRPM (1) year Limited Warranty period who wish to purchase the 4G upgrade kit will receive (1) year of wireless Intellimetrics data transmission service (a $240 value) at no cost and will also receive a $150 credit against the purchase price of the 4G upgrade kit as an installation allowance. Wireless Intellimetrics data transmissions service can be extended for an additional fee of $240/year. Associated installation labor will be performed by an authorized ZeroRPM Service Provider
The pricing for this Intellimetrics Cellular Gateway 3G to 4G Transition Program has an expiration date of December 31, 2022, to encourage owners to have this service ordered as soon as possible. We recommend ZeroRPM resellers contact owners with effected vehicles as soon as possible. This will help minimize the duration of wireless Intellimetrics data transmission interruption.

For each system, the owner or dealer must request and purchase the 4G upgrade kit via the web site listed below (customers within the 1-year warranty period will receive a credit equal to the installation allowance of $150). ZeroRPM authorized service providers are to replace the system’s 3G Intellimetrics gateway embedded CAN Remote hardware with a 4G upgrade kit (4G CAN Remote, cables, and mounting hardware), and install provided software update for IMS or JEMS applications.
OEM’s and Dealers must notify their customers with the ZeroRPM systems. Customer/End User communications should be performed as soon as this notification is received to enable them to respond prior to December 31, 2022. All ZeroRPM resellers should offer this upgrade to any effected vehicles, whether within the ZeroRPM (1) year Limited Warranty period or not.
A new menu option has been added into Intellimetrics to allow you to choose the assets you which to upgrade. Select this menu option, Identify 4G Upgrade and then mark each asset with the checkbox next to it to request for that asset to be upgraded. You will be contacted within two business days by sales to schedule your upgrade.
