The Energy Department and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) will present a live webinar titled "Getting the Most Benefit from Participating in the ORNL Buildings Crowdsourcing Community Online" on Thursday, April 9, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webinar will explain the vision for the ORNL buildings crowdsourcing website and how it's designed to serve as a centralized location—storing, referencing, and highlighting the increased support and adoption of energy-efficient building technologies. Presenters will elaborate on the website's current crowdsourcing campaign topics, the process for selecting the best ideas, and how those ideas will be represented and recognized. The demonstration will also highlight the process for site registration and submitting new ideas, as well as commenting and voting on existing ideas.
April 14: Live Webinar on Buildings of the Future

The Energy Department and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will host a live webinar titled "Buildings of the Future: Towards a More Connected and Secure Built Environment" on Tuesday, April 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. This webinar is the first in a series of panel discussions exploring the future of our built environment. Panelists Dave Rouse from the American Planning Association, Jon Francis from the Bosch Research Technology Centre, and Jason Christopher from DOE will explore the future built environment from three unique perspectives: urban planning, the internet of things, and security. The panelists will discuss the challenges that U.S. cities may face in these areas, the opportunities brought by new technologies, and how these factors can influence building design and operation.

Join moderator Patrick Gilman from DOE, Bill Van Houten from the Department of Defense's Siting Clearinghouse, and Jason Biddle from the Lincoln Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for a discussion of radar, research, and siting processes as they relate to wind energy deployment.

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Benchmarking Data Cleansing: A Rite of Passage Along the Benchmarking Journey" on Thursday, April 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Presenters will train analysts, energy planners, and community officials on the principles used for identifying potential problems associated with benchmarking data and discuss a process for cleaning data prior to analysis. This webinar will help cities, communities, schools, and states that are implementing an internal or community-wide building benchmarking program, working to better understand energy use trends, and designing effective energy efficiency programs.
